Students who read twenty minutes a day are exposed to 1,823,000 words per year.  In contrast, a student who reads two minutes per day is only exposed to 106,000 words per year (Beers & Probst).  The impact on student academic success cannot be overstated: a greater vocabulary, increased background knowledge, and higher standardized test scores (90th percentile rank vs. 30th).  Summer is a great time for students to dive into a good book!
